April adventures

Besides a visit from the President of the United States, April had many other rewarding events I was privileged to cover:

- Bountiful/Davis Art Center's "soft" opening in their new location on Main Street, Bountiful
- A three-guitar jazz concert at the center
- Soroptimists' awards dinner, where $12,000 was presented to causes that benefit women and girls
- Davis School District Board of Education's discussions on funding for new schools
- Kaysville City Council's debate on traffic control around a new elementary school
- Davis County's earthquake preparations
- Art lesson results at Valley View Elementary
- A speech to elementary students by an astronaut who flew four space shuttle missions
- The opening of the musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
- Jazz shows at two different high schools
- The Davis Education Foundation gala, a fundraiser for student needs not paid for with public money
- A mini pioneer trek by students at a Centerville elementary school
- A presentation by a business that builds jet propulsion systems and parts for aircraft built around the world
- Ag Field Day for third graders to learn about farms
- An Emergency Preparedness Fair
- A Psychology Bowl to help kids prepare for AP exams
- Songkran Festival at a Buddhist Temple
- A kite festival at a nearby park
- A school celebration of seven years' work collecting one million pop tabs
- A talk on financial literacy at a high school, given by a bank official
- The opening of a new wing at a charter school
- A speech by a CNN documentary host about her travels and insights.

I am learning so much. It is such fascinating work to meet people who are passionate about what they do, experts in their fields and willing to share. And then I get to share what they have shared with me, with whoever will read. So amazing.
